Brief history of BJ Medical College

B.J. Medical College (BJMC) is a well-established medical institution known for its history and academic achievements. It was established in 1878 as a medical school and later upgraded to a full-fledged college in 1946. The college is recognized for being the oldest medical college in its state and one of the oldest in the country. It has a strong reputation for its MBBS and postgraduate programs, admitting a significant number of students annually. A notable historical event is Mahatma Gandhi’s appendicitis surgery, which took place at the college in 1924.
